Do I need to paint the spoiler?
It depends on the finish specified in the name and specifications. Spoilers “for painting” (primed, including fiberglass ones) are painted in the body color after test fitting, and the transport primer is not the final finish. Gloss black and carbon are ready-made options, but the shade of black may differ slightly from the factory one.
What does the spoiler attach to, and is adhesive included?
Most spoilers are attached with glass adhesive sealant, which is purchased separately. Lightweight lip spoilers can be mounted with 3M double-sided tape. Window visors with a frame are fastened with self-tapping screws, and some spoilers fit into the factory mounting points with an installation kit — the installation type is specified in the product specifications.
Which is more reliable — adhesive sealant or double-sided tape?
Adhesive sealant holds more securely and is suitable for larger spoilers, but the part is harder to remove later. Tape is easier to install and remove without leaving marks, but it is better suited for lightweight lip spoilers.
Will a spoiler from a sedan fit a hatchback or wagon?
No. The trunk lid of a sedan and the fifth door of a hatchback or wagon have different shapes, so the versions are marked SD, HB, SW, Coupe. Choose the product specifically for your body type and model years.
How is a spoiler for a tailgate different from one for barn doors?
For vans with a single lift-up rear door (tailgate), the spoiler is one-piece; for barn doors, it is two-piece, with one part for each door. These versions are not interchangeable, so before buying, check which doors your vehicle has.
Will the spoiler block the third brake light or camera?
