Frequently asked questions
Are the mirror caps glued on over the factory mirror housing, or do they replace it?
The cover is glued over the factory mirror cap, so the original part does not need to be removed. Replacement mirror caps are installed instead of the factory ones: for Land Cruiser 200 or Lexus LX570, the specifications state the installation type as “In factory locations,” and the carbon Replacement Style caps also replace the original part.
What should mirror trims be glued on with?
Trims with the “Self-adhesive” installation type are attached with double-sided tape — the surface should be washed and degreased first. Trims with the “For glue” installation type are glued with automotive glass adhesive (for example, Teroson) or automotive sealant.
Will the trims fit a car from the US market?
Not always: mirrors for European and American versions differ in shape. For Volkswagen Passat B8, there are separate EU and USA options, and the “for EU” note in the name means the trims are designed for European mirrors.
What do “with turn signal cutout” and “without cutout” mean?
If there is a turn signal repeater in the mirror housing, you need a trim with a cutout — it does not cover it. For mirrors without a repeater, choose the version without a cutout. The repeater itself is not included in the trim.
I have one mirror smaller than the other — will the set fit?
Yes, if the set is designed for your model: for example, for Volkswagen Passat B5 1996–2003, the set includes one large and one small trim for the factory mirrors. For some vans (Renault Kangoo, Trafic, Citroen Berlingo), the trims are also sold separately — left or right.
Can the trims be painted to match the body color?
Parts marked “for painting” or “primer” are intended for painting — for example, trims for Range Rover, Land Rover Defender and Discovery Sport, and Lexus LX570 caps in TRD Sport style. Chrome, carbon, and black BMW-style trims have a ready-made finish.
