Toyota Crown Signia: hybrid crossover review and U.S. prices

Toyota Crown Signia (people here also search for it as “Toyota Crown Signia” in Ukrainian transliteration) is a mid-size hybrid crossover-wagon with which Toyota brought the legendary Crown name back to the U.S. market in an SUV format. The model debuted as a 2025 model year, went on sale in the U.S. in the second half of 2024, and in Japan the same vehicle is sold as the Toyota Crown Estate. We break down what this car is, its specifications, how the XLE and Limited trims differ, how much it costs in the U.S., and what you should know if you plan to bring a Crown Signia to Ukraine.

Place in the Crown lineup and connection to Crown Estate
Crown is the oldest name in Toyota’s model lineup, produced in Japan since 1955. The 16th generation split the badge into four body styles: Crossover, Sport, Sedan, and Estate. Crown Signia is the American name for the Estate, the most practical version of the family: a tall wagon on the TNGA-K platform with a large cargo area. For the U.S., this is already the second Crown model after the cross-sedan, which we covered in the Toyota Crown review.
In North America, Crown Signia effectively took the place of the Toyota Venza: after the 2024 model year, Venza was dropped from the U.S. lineup. Buyers received the new model well—in 2025 Toyota sold 20,550 Crown Signia units in the U.S. versus 10,263 in 2024. This is the model’s best result and twice as many as the Crown cross-sedan for the same year (12,309 units).
In Japan, the model launched on March 13, 2025 under the name Crown Estate and, unlike the U.S. version, also has a plug-in hybrid. The Estate RS PHEV version can drive up to 89 km on electricity on the WLTC cycle, while the Estate Z hybrid costs 6.35 million yen and the PHEV costs 8.1 million yen.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Toyota Crown Signia (U.S., 2025–2026) |
|---|---|
| Powertrain | 2.5L gasoline, 4-cylinder + 3 electric motors (Toyota Hybrid System) |
| Total output | 240 hp (179 kW) |
| Transmission | electronically controlled continuously variable (e-CVT) |
| Drive | all-wheel, electronic on-demand AWD (rear wheels driven by a separate electric motor) |
| 0–96 km/h (0–60 mph) | 7.1 s |
| EPA fuel economy (city / highway / combined) | 39 / 37 / 38 mpg ≈ 6.0 / 6.4 / 6.2 L/100 km |
| Length × width × height | 4,930 × 1,880 × 1,626 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,850 mm |
| Ground clearance | 170 mm |
| Curb weight (XLE) | about 1,910 kg |
| Trailer weight | up to 1,225 kg |
| Wheels and tires | XLE — 19 inches (225/55 R19), Limited — 21 inches |
| Cargo volume (SAE method) | about 730 L, with the second row folded — about 1,950 L |
Japan’s Crown Estate lists 570 L of cargo space and 1,470 L with the seats folded under its own method. The body is the same—the difference is in the measurement methodology, so it is only worth comparing cargo figures within the same standard.
Hybrid system and all-wheel drive
Under the hood is a 2.5L inline-four with two motor-generators up front and a separate electric motor on the rear axle. There is no driveshaft: the rear wheels engage electrically when the front wheels start to slip or when maximum pull is needed during acceleration. This is managed by Toyota Hybrid System with an electronic continuously variable transmission, so the driver does not feel any gear shifts at all. There are three drive modes: NORMAL, ECO, and SPORT.
The system is designed for efficiency rather than records: 240 hp and 7.1 seconds to 60 mph is typical family-crossover territory. But consumption of about 6.2 L/100 km for a nearly two-ton vehicle with all-wheel drive is a strong result. For the 2027 model year, Toyota moved the Crown cross-sedan to the fifth-generation hybrid (THS 5); more on that in the Toyota Crown 2027 news. Whether Crown Signia will receive the same update has not been officially announced by Toyota: as of late September 2026, the 2026 model is on sale.
XLE and Limited trims, U.S. pricing
XLE
The base version is already well equipped: 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, power front seats with heating and ventilation, heated outer rear seats, heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, LED headlights with automatic high beams, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
Limited
The higher trim adds 21-inch dark gray wheels, a fixed panoramic glass roof, a JBL audio system with 11 speakers, headlights with auto-leveling, a digital rearview mirror, a rain sensor, and a digital key in your smartphone (works with an active Drive Connect subscription). An Advanced Technology package is available for an extra charge: surround-view cameras, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, and parking assistants. Starting with the 2026 model year, Limited can be ordered in a two-tone paint scheme with a black roof.
According to Toyota’s press release for the 2026 model year, prices started at $44,390 for XLE and $48,790 for Limited, with dealer delivery adding another $1,450. Current price lists on U.S. services already show $44,690 and $49,090.
Interior, cargo area, and equipment
Crown Signia is a five-seat vehicle, and space is the main argument here. The seating position is high; the H-point is at 25.8 inches (about 655 mm), making it easy to get in and out. With the second-row seatbacks folded, you get a flat platform about 2 meters long, which can carry long items or serve for resting on the road. Japan’s Crown Estate places special emphasis on this: the vehicle comes with a folding chair and camping table. The panoramic roof on Limited slightly reduces cargo volume, so those who often carry a lot of things should keep that in mind.
In terms of safety systems, both trims include eight airbags, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane keeping with steering assist, full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, and Lane Tracing Assist.
Crown Signia in Ukraine
Toyota’s official lineup in Ukraine does not include Crown Signia, so all cars here are imported from the U.S. or Canada. On AUTO.RIA they are sold in the Toyota Crown section; by late September 2026 there were about two dozen listings, including Crown Signia for the 2025 model year. Before buying, read our article “Cars from the U.S.: is it worth ordering a vehicle from overseas?”.
A few practical points. There is no official dealer warranty for such a car, so the condition of the hybrid battery and the history of service campaigns should be checked before purchase. Some functions, such as the digital key, are tied to Toyota’s U.S. online services. The 21-inch tires on Limited are more vulnerable on our roads than the 19-inch ones on XLE.
Accessories for Crown Signia
We do not yet have parts in our catalog developed specifically for Crown Signia. Universal items with the Toyota logo are a good fit for it: stainless-steel door sill plates, mat badges, and a license plate frame—all of this is available in the Toyota tuning section.
