You can find four types of car mats here: EVA (Digital Designs), rubber (Stingray, Polytep), textile, and eco-leather — for the cabin and trunk, and EVA also for van door sills/steps. Which mats to choose: EVA, rubber, textile, or eco-leather?

  • EVA cabin mats — lightweight ethylene-vinyl acetate mats by Digital Designs. The surface cells retain water, snow, and sand, the mat won’t soak through, and you can wash it with plain water, so EVA is a popular winter choice too. The material has no harsh odor and handles temperature swings well. For many models, you can choose the base and binding color to match the interior; light binding looks great but shows dirt more easily.
  • Rubber cabin mats — Stingray, Polytep, and other manufacturers. The most practical option for mud, road chemicals, and out-of-town use, and the raised edge keeps meltwater in. Rubber differs in thickness, weight, and softness; in the Stingray Premium line, the manufacturer states there is no rubber smell.
  • Textile cabin mats — pile mats that look like the factory carpet and make the cabin quieter. Classic, Premium, and Deluxe lines differ in pile density and height. They’re best for city driving in dry weather: the pile absorbs moisture, so you’ll need to vacuum and dry them.
