As a rule, the most useful things are those that we do not notice in everyday life. We rather take them for granted. Light in the entrance, a loop on outerwear, a spoon for shoes - such examples can be given endlessly. Only when they are absent for some reason can one truly feel their significance.

Types of car floor mats and their features

In a vehicle, such items, of course, include a car mat. To assess its role in the operation of equipment, you can try to do without it for a while. We can confidently assume that after the first cleaning in the cabin you will hurry to return the mat to its rightful place. What could be done with a wave of the hand will have to be done with loss of time, with the help of additional means and in an uncomfortable position.

If everything is clear with the need for a rug, then what type of product to prefer is another question. The main selection criterion in this case is the material of the product. Without trying to cover the entire range of products offered, we will focus on three main groups.

Car mats with fabric or fleece backing are preferred mainly for their attractive appearance and good moisture absorbing properties. However, they are largely subject to pollution and loss of their original appearance; during their operation, drivers often face the problem of cleaning and washing them, with unpleasant odors from absorbed dirt, and freezing of moisture in winter.

Rubber mats are very practical and comfortable. They are easy to remove and clean, they are effective in collecting and localizing water, dust, debris, dirt. The negative aspects of such applications of these products include susceptibility to low temperatures, deterioration of performance properties from constant exposure to moisture, sun, temperature, their cracking and gusts. In addition, rubber under certain conditions can be a source of unpleasant and harmful odors (especially in the case of low-quality products).

Many of the disadvantages of rubber spared polyurethane mats. This is a reliable durable material that is highly resistant to wear, is not sensitive to high and low temperatures, and does not create an additional load on the sense of smell. Perhaps its main drawback is its high price.

Given these characteristics, all motorists can give the following recommendations. If you are mentally prepared to spend a lot of money on the purchase of secondary parts (as we have already found out, this is not entirely true) for your car, then it is better to purchase polyurethane products and forget about this accessory for many years.

Considering the price and functionality, rubber mats can be a good choice. Usually they are included in the basic package of the car and are the most popular among car owners. As an option, to extend the service life, improve the interior of the cabin and neutralize the described shortcomings, two sets of coatings can be used - rubber and textile.
