Wing or spoiler: what to buy?
Often, motorist racers, having seen enough of such films as "Fast and the Furious" and the like, begin to hang their car with various body kits, they certainly strive to install a spoiler, buy some kind of spectacular rear wing, a cool mudguard ... And then they begin to complain that their car has become slower and more greedy.
But after all, you need to be able to choose the right aerodynamic body kit and install it correctly. Alterations of attachments from other brands of machines are especially unacceptable. That is, if you want to buy a body kit for the Sprinter, then you need to choose auto parts designed specifically for this brand of car. In addition, situations are not uncommon when motorists, when purchasing an aerodynamic body kit, do not even understand why this is necessary and generally believe that a spoiler and a wing are absolutely the same and interchangeable parts. But they are not only not the same, but also completely opposite in their purpose.

What is a spoiler?
This is an aerodynamic body kit that changes the direction of air flows, aligns them, and contributes to a softer flow around the protruding corners of the body. As a result of all this, the car at high speeds experiences less resistance to air flow, speed increases, and fuel consumption decreases.
It is customary to make a spoiler of a low and streamlined shape. It usually has a monolithic design and must be securely fixed to the body. Most often it is mounted in the back of a passenger car or in the back of a truck cab (in front of a raised awning).

What is an anti-wing?
This is also an element of the aerodynamic body kit, but it has a completely different principle of operation, which is based on Bernoulli's theory: the higher the speed, the lower the pressure (the operation of aircraft is also based on this theory).
For example, airplane wings have a curved top and a perfectly flat bottom, resulting in a difference in area that creates lift. If we take such a design and turn it over, then we will just get a wing that will create not lift, but downforce. When using such a part in car tuning, the traction force improves and, accordingly, driving safety increases. More often than not, wings are installed on racing cars with a small mass. And on Formula 1 cars, they are mounted both in the front and in the back of the body.
The main differences from the spoiler are the principle of operation, the shape (it has a more massive structure), the method of installation (it is installed on movable complex brackets that rise above the car body).
Therefore, if you are tuning a car and want to install an aerodynamic body kit, remember that it is quite possible to install the spoiler yourself, but with a wing you will have to go to good specialists.
