Here you’ll find tuning parts and body accessories for the Mercedes W166 (2011–2018): the ML (2011–2015) and the GLE (2015–2018), which replaced the ML on the same body. Side steps, floor mats, window deflectors, roof racks, and most chrome trim pieces are shared between both models. Grilles, bumpers, and AMG body kit sets, rear mud flaps, and the badge under the glass are made separately—each product title states “for ML” or “for GLE”.
| Body / years | How to tell the difference | What must be selected separately |
|---|
| ML W166, 2011–2015 | ML lettering on the tailgate, headlights, hood, grille, and bumpers in ML design. 2011–2012 cars are often confused with the ML W164—check the body by the front-end photo | Diamond and GT Panamericana grilles “for ML”; AMG ML63 body kit set and its bumpers and fenders sold separately; rear mud flaps for ML; badge under the glass for ML |
| GLE W166, 2015–2018 | GLE lettering on the tailgate, different headlights, hood, fenders, grille, bumpers, and taillights. Do not confuse with the GLE Coupe C292 or the GLE W167 from 2018 | Diamond and GT Panamericana grilles “for GLE”; for GLE63—separate versions; GLE63 AMG body kits, front bumpers and GLE63 rear diffusers, GLE63 AMG exhaust tips; rear mud flaps for GLE; badge under the glass for GLE |
| Both, 2011–2018 | Shared parts across the entire W166 body | side steps, floor mats, window deflectors, roof rack cross bars, front mud flaps, EU-spec taillights |
Which grilles and AMG body kits fit the ML, and which fit the GLE
ML and GLE grilles are not interchangeable. For the ML, there are tuning grilles in Diamond and GT Panamericana with the “for ML” label. For the GLE, there are Diamond, Diamond Black, and GT Panamericana versions; the Diamond grille for GLE is available with or without a cutout for the front camera. For the GLE63 AMG bumper, there are separate AMG, AMG Black, and Panamericana grilles “for GLE63”. Front badges in 18.4 cm and 21 cm, and their housings, are in the badges section.
The AMG ML63 body kit set for the ML includes the front bumper, complete rear bumper, and ML63 front fenders. For the GLE, there are two GLE63 AMG kits: with a rear diffuser (front bumper, fender flare extensions, AMG grille, diffuser) and with a rear bumper (both bumpers, fender flare extensions, AMG grille). GLE63 AMG fender flare extensions are designed for GLE63 bumpers and do not fit a stock ML or GLE 43. Parts are supplied ready for painting and install into factory mounting points.
To fully change the look, there are facelift conversion kits: ML to GLE AMG (headlights, hood, fenders, grille, GLE63 bumpers, fender flares, and taillights) and W166 conversion to the W167 GLE63 or GLE53 look. You can install the kit at DD Tuning’s network of certified service centers—ask a manager for the nearest one.
How to choose headlights, taillights, and mud flaps
EU-spec taillights fit both the ML and the GLE; on US-spec vehicles they must be coded. Facelift front headlights come in two types—for factory xenon and for halogen—so before ordering, confirm which lighting your vehicle has. On the ML, these headlights are installed together with a front-end conversion because the hood, fenders, and bumper are different on the GLE.
Vehicle-specific mud flaps are selected based on side steps and the rear bumper: front mud flaps (shared for ML and GLE) are for vehicles with side steps or without them (with AMG-style side skirts). Rear mud flaps are separate: for the ML with an AMG bumper and for the GLE with a body-color bumper.
Which side steps fit the W166
Side steps are the same for the ML and GLE (2011–2018). These are mainly Erkul aluminum running boards in various designs (Maya, Allmond, Tayga, Bosphorus, Duru, RedLine, and others) and Maydos V2 in stainless steel. Profile width is 10 cm for Maya and 14 cm for most other designs. There is also a replica of the factory running boards in an “Original design” made of aluminum and plastic. Sold as a pair with a mounting kit and install into factory mounting points.
