Volvo EX90 is a seven-seat electric crossover measuring 5,037 mm in length, the Swedish brand’s flagship and the electric “successor” to the XC90. It was unveiled in November 2022, series production started in 2024, and for the 2026 model year the EX90 switched to an 800-volt architecture: output increased to 680 hp, and the battery charges from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes. In Ukraine, the model was officially presented by Volvo dealers in July 2025.

What changed for the 2026 model-year EX90
The first EX90s from 2024–2025 were built on a 400-volt electrical system: 104 and 111 kWh batteries, fast charging up to 250 kW, and versions with 279, 408, and 517 hp. For the 2026 model year, Volvo reworked the car more deeply than is usually the case for a “model year” update:
- 800-volt architecture. Peak charging power increased to 310–350 kW; at a compatible station, 10–80% charge is replenished in 22 minutes.
- New batteries and motors. Capacity is now 92 and 106 kWh, and output increased across the range: Twin Motor got 456 hp instead of 408, Performance—680 hp and 870 N·m.
- New onboard computer with two NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin chips delivering 500 trillion operations per second. For EX90 2025 model-year owners in the USA, it is replaced free of charge.
- No lidar. The Luminar sensor on the roof, which Volvo promoted with the EX90 at launch, is not fitted from the 2026 model year: in November 2025 the company terminated its contract with the supplier. The cameras and radars of the Safe Space system remain.
What trims and powertrains the EX90 has
For the 2026 model year, the EX90 is offered in three versions, all with a single-speed reduction gear and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Single Motor
One motor on the rear axle—245 kW (333 hp) and 480 N·m, 0–100 km/h in 6.8 s. Battery 92 kWh, range 479–565 km. The lightest version—2,513 kg, but trailer towing only up to 1,500 kg.
Twin Motor
Two motors, all-wheel drive, 335 kW (456 hp) and 670 N·m, 0–100 km/h in 5.5 s. The 106 kWh battery delivers 521–609 km on WLTP—this is the longest range in the lineup.
Twin Motor Performance
The same battery and drivetrain layout, but 500 kW (680 hp) and 870 N·m: 0–100 km/h in 4.2 s. Range barely decreased—521–603 km.

Range and charging speed of the EX90
The highest claimed range is 609 km for the Twin Motor on the base 21-inch wheels; on 22-inch rims and in the cold the figure is noticeably lower, so use the lower end of the range as your guide. WLTP consumption is 18.4–22.8 kWh per 100 km.
At a fast 800-volt charging station (310 kW for Single Motor, 350 kW for all-wheel-drive versions), 10–80% is replenished in 22 minutes. At the more common 400-volt 120 kW stations here—30–32 minutes. The onboard AC charger is 11 kW: from a three-phase 16 A outlet, a full charge takes 10–11 hours. The car supports bidirectional charging—it can feed energy back to the home or the grid (V2H/V2G), if the home station supports it.
How many seats and what the EX90 interior is like
The EX90 is a seven-seater: seven individual seats in a 2+3+2 layout, the third row folds electrically, and the second row is split 40/20/40. For China, a luxurious four-seat Excellence version was shown. By official measurements, headroom above the third-row cushion is 909 mm, so it is tight for an adult, but fine for children and teenagers.
Trunk space behind the third row is modest—324 L to the window line (384 L to the roof). With the third row folded—697 L, and with both rows folded—1,316 L to the window line and 2,135 L to the roof. Under the hood there is also a small 34 L compartment—just right for a charging cable.
Externally, the EX90 is recognized by the “Thor’s Hammer” headlights and a smooth nose without a grille; the drag coefficient is 0.29. Inside there is a vertical 14.5-inch Android Automotive screen with Google Maps and Google Assistant, a 9-inch instrument display, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and six USB-C ports across three rows. In the trim, Volvo uses wool and recycled materials.
What equipment comes in Plus and Ultra
In the UK, the EX90 is sold in two trims. 2026 model-year prices start at £79 295 for the Plus Single Motor and go up to £96 595 for the Ultra Twin Motor Performance.
- Plus: 21-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, panoramic roof, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and the outer seats of the second row, 360-degree cameras with 3D view, Pilot Assist, automated parking, driver attention monitoring system, Bose audio system (14 speakers, 940 W).
- Ultra adds: 22-inch wheels, Active Four-C air suspension with adaptive dampers, headlights with a 1.3-megapixel matrix, a dimming panoramic roof, soft-close doors, front-seat massage and ventilation, and Bowers & Wilkins with 25 speakers delivering 1 610 W with Dolby Atmos.
For safety, the EX90 received five stars from Euro NCAP in 2025.
Is the Volvo EX90 sold in Ukraine
Yes. The official EX90 presentation took place at all Volvo dealer centers in Ukraine on July 27, 2025; dealers stated a seven-seat configuration, range up to 600 km, and 10–80% charging in about 30 minutes—these figures referred to 400-volt cars of the 2024–2025 model years. Dealers quote the price in hryvnias individually, so check the current cost and the available 800 V versions at the showroom. On the secondary market, cars imported from the USA and China are also found: check by VIN the model year, battery type, and the presence of lidar, because this affects both charging and the set of driver assistance systems.

Which accessories to choose for the EX90
The EX90 is a new model, so there are not many model-specific accessories yet. The most useful thing for a family seven-seat crossover is floor protection: the catalog includes model-specific floor mats for Volvo EX90—Stingray 3D polyurethane mats. The EX90 has integrated roof rails, so for a roof box or bike rack you need crossbars specifically for integrated rails—they are selected by the distance between the rails, and before ordering it is worth verifying this with the manager. The rest of the products that fit the model are collected on the Volvo EX90 tuning page.
